Reworking Chester’s original vocals from their previous albums, they were able to re-release eleven tracks on their 2020 album, Amends. The next year, the band regrouped and, with the blessing of Chester’s widow, began to work on the project. Unfortunately, due to Chester’s sudden death, the project was shelved in mid 2017. Chester announced the reunion on social media saying that their plan was to re-record material from their first two albums with better production and a more modern sound. Prior to Chester’s passing in 2017, the band reunited with Chester as the vocalist, Sean Dowdell as the drummer and backing vocals, Mace Beyers as the bassist, and Cristin Davis as the guitarist. Grey Daze stayed together for nearly five years and despite several lineup changes ended up being one of the biggest local acts in Arizona, opening for a lot of popular bands like Fuel, Seven Mary Three, Candlebox, Suicidal Tendencies, Bush and No Doubt among others, and drawing a few thousand people a night by themselves. Former singer Chester Bennington died on Jfrom suicide by hanging. Former band member Bobby Benish died on Septemfrom a brain tumor. Sean Dowdell runs a tattoo shop in Arizona. Bennington, as mentioned, went on to join the highly successful nu metal band Linkin Park. The band went through several line-up changes throughout the decade, releasing two albums: Wake Me in 1994 and …no sun today in 1997 before breaking up in 1998. Formed in 1993, Grey Daze was an alternative rock/grunge band that notably featured future Linkin Park vocalist Chester Bennington.
